And like at the top, the race for those precious places is going to go down to the wire, as Tottenham bid to hold onto third, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United in with a shout of getting in too.

The weekend produced crazy results with none of the teams managing a win.

Spurs were beaten by West Ham at home, while Arsenal were torn apart by Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

Meanwhile, Manchester United and Chelsea played out a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Reds' win more impressive, say fans

Tottenham Hotspur's comeback win over Ajax on Wednesday was incredible, but it was no "Miracle of Anfield" from the day before.
That was the consensus of fans The Straits Times spoke to, who pointed to Liverpool's 4-0 thumping of Lionel Messi-led Barcelona as being more impressive than Spurs' 3-2 win in Amsterdam.
Both English sides had trailed 3-0 in their respective ties, but overturned the deficit to book their spot in the June 1 final at the Wanda Metropolitano Arena in Madrid.
Elliott Danker, senior presenter on Money FM 89.3, said: "Even as a Manchester United fan, I have to give it to Liverpool.
"When you consider they're also fighting for the Premier League and that race has gone down to the wire, and with the thought they might end the season empty-handed at the back of their minds - to overcome that is so impressive.
"The moment I went into office the next day and saw a few of my colleagues who are Liverpool fans, I had to tell them: Respect."
Arsenal fan and Singapore Management University undergraduate Victoria Lim, 23, added: "We got to see the power of Liverpool playing at Anfield.

Liverpool, 3-0 down at half-time against AC Milan, scored thrice in the second half. The English side went on to win the shoot-out 3-2 after Jerzy Dudek saved the final penalty from Andriy Shevchenko.
    2003-04 QUARTER-FINAL
Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna lost the first leg 4-1 to defending champions AC Milan but won 4-0 at home to qualify for the semi-finals, where they were stopped by eventual champions, Jose Mourinho's Porto.

"They played with so much passion, grit and belief. It was a great match and comeback, regardless of which club you support.
"When they sang (club anthem You'll Never Walk Alone) after the match, I got goosebumps."
A Twitter poll conducted by STsportsdesk saw almost three quarters of the over 600 respondents pick Liverpool's result as the more impressive of the two ties.
United fan Vighnesh Vasanthanathan, 25, said the quality of opposition was what made the Reds' triumph more remarkable.
"At the end of the day, Ajax are a team still growing in maturity," said the Republic Polytechnic student. "They had youth everywhere on the pitch and, when it mattered most, Spurs had the experienced players to give them the edge."
The final will be the first between two English teams since 2008, when United beat Chelsea on penalties, and Newcastle United fan Irfan Rahman, 32, believes it reflects the current strength of the league.
"To me, it shows the Premier League is the best in the world," said the assistant executive. "When you consider Liverpool and Spurs have both not won the Premier League title but are now in the Champions League final, it shows just how competitive the league is."
Whether the EPL is the best in the world is debatable, said Danker, 37, but it is "the most entertaining and most talked-about".
He added: "An all-English Champions League final, and Liverpool making their second in a row, will make (that reputation) better.
"Plus, last year England reached their first World Cup semi-final since 1990. Maybe fans can now expect Ballon d'Or winners and other world-class players moving to the Premier League soon."

Charlton vs Sunderland: Addicks go behind in League One play-off final following Dillon Phillips’ catastrophic error

Charlton goalkeeper Dillon Phillips has had one of those moments where he’ll wish the ground opened up and swallowed him whole after his awful mistake in the League One play-off final.

The Addicks’ opponents, Sunderland, took the lead on five minutes at Wembley in the most shocking of circumstances as Phillips completely misjudged Naby Sarr’s backpass.

Sarr’s ball had a bit of pace on it but Phillips was flat-footed and the ball inexplicably went into the back of the net and below you can see a video of how the shocking incident unfolded.

However, despite their initial shell-shock, Charlton got themselves on level terms ten minutes before the break thanks to Ben Purrington’s strike.

And they won promotion to the Championship in sensational style when captain Patrick Bauer scored seconds before the end of extra-time, securing a 2-1 win.

Unai Emery reveals Danny Welbeck could get new Arsenal contract as he prepares to return after injury nightmare

Unai Emery has revealed Danny Welbeck could well get a new contract as he hopes to make a return from injury before the end of the season.

The Arsenal forward broke his ankle in November at home against Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League, but is set to return to training imminently.

Danny Welbeck could well be an Arsenal player next season

Although the Spaniard conceded Welbeck is unlikely to play again this season, he insisted the England international is ‘progressing very well’ in his rehab.

With Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang flourishing in his absence, it remains to be seen how regularly the former Manchester United star will start at the Emirates.

As such, it was widely expected the 28-year-old would leave in the summer – something Emery refused to rule out.

“He’s progressing very well,” Emery said.

The striker broke his ankle back in November

“He is working and starting to touch the ball and to work on the pitch. His progress with such a big injury is going very well.

“It’s difficult for him to play matches this season but he is progressing very well and maybe the doctor will tell us he can come train with us in the last weeks of this season.

“After, his individual thing is to speak with the club [about his future].”

The striker’s nationality may well be also crucial to securing his future in north London.

Losing Jack Wilshere in the summer to West Ham United and Callum Chamber’s loan move to Fulham meant the Gunners had no English representation during the international break.

And Emery may well keep Welbeck as he wants senior players to inspire the club’s youngsters to represent their country.

“Every [English] team needs English players,” he continued.

“Danny has his injury now. He was going with the national team and we were happy for him and the national team.

“[Promising English players] are now in [Arsenal’s] under-18s, under-19s, under-20s and under-21s teams.

“We have a lot of players with the possibility to grow up with us and be part of our future, and also with the national team.”

Women’s World Cup 2019: Who are the Lionesses’ superstars to watch out for in France?

England’s preparations for the Women’s World Cup are nearly finished and there is a real optimism that Phil Neville’s side can achieve something great in the tournament.

The Lionesses triumphed in the SheBelieves Cup in the United States, winning the competition ahead of the hosts, who are ranked No.1 in the world.

Neville’s side have a great chance at the World Cup

England finished third at the last World Cup in 2015, and, despite the absence of key midfielder Jordan Nobbs, the team is littered with a number of talented stars.

But who are the key players in the side? talkSPORT.com has given our verdict…

Keira Walsh

Walsh enjoyed a fine season in the holding midfield role for Man City as they finished runners up in the league.

She has been an assured presence in front of the defence and even chipped in with one goal and five assists in 19 appearances –  a decent return for a defensive minded player.

The 22-year-old made her debut for England in a World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan in 2017 and has since emerged as one of Neville’s most important players.

Walsh was an imperious figure in front of defence for City this season

Nobbs, speaking to Sky Sports, has admitted Walsh’s passing ability will be crucial to how England fare in the competition.

“The way that we want to play, we need that midfielder who can make passes long and short. She created a goal for Beth Mead in the SheBelieves Cup with a 40-yard diagonal.

“We need players to step up and she has been one of those players. I hope I can play alongside her in the years to come.”

Women's World Cup 2019

talkSPORT will have live coverage of every single England and Scotland game being brought to you LIVE across the talkSPORT network.

Nikita Parris

Parris has risen to be one of the most prolific strikers in the women’s game and she spearheaded Manchester City to victory in both domestic major cup competitions this term.

The 25-year-old scored a stunning 19 goals in 19 games in a stellar campaign in the league.

Parris is one of the best strikers in the world

7

Parris is one of the best strikers in the world

She has also been snapped up by the Lyon – the current Champions League holders after thrashing Barcelona – and her confidence should be sky high after securing that move.

Parris goes into the tournament in good nick, too, having scored in the SheBelieves Cup and in the warm-up game against Denmark.

Beth Mead

Mead is another who has come on leaps and bounds under Neville’s management and she was another player who was very impressive in the SheBelieves Cup.

It was the 24-year-old’s wonderstrike that saw England overcome Brazil and she hit the back of the net against Japan too.

Mead plays on the wing under Neville

7

Mead plays on the wing under Neville

Before Mead moved to Arsenal, she was a prolific striker for Sunderland but she is also hugely versatile, having featured mainly on the wing under Neville.

Alongside Parris up front, the duo can be lethal in attack for the Lionesses at this World Cup.

Lucy Bronze

If England are to go all the way in France it’s likely the Lyon ace will be a key factor.

She was the heiress to Alex Scott’s role at right-back and has gone on to become one of the world’s finest in her position, while Lionesses boss Neville has taken to playing her in midfield too, such is her exceptional quality.

Bronze in action against Canada

Since moving to Lyon she’s added more trophies to her already impressive haul with Liverpool and Manchester City.

As well as three Women’s Super Leagues, she’s now got two French league titles under her belt and won the Champions League twice.

Don’t be surprised if she pops up with a goal or two either. In the 2015 World Cup she netted against Canada and Norway, while she was shortlisted for the Golden Ball at the tournament too.

Steph Houghton

“We’ve got a real mix of experience and talent at the World Cup,” says talkSPORT’s World Cup reporter Faye Carruthers.

“Houghton (105 caps) is the captain and has a wealth of experience behind her given that she’s the Manchester City captain, too. She’s a central defender, so her marshalling of everyone and influence on the pitch is really important.”

A warrior on the pitch, Houghton is one of the Lionesses many history makers and in October 2014 was the first woman to be on the cover of Shoot Magazine, a huge step for the women’s game which now regularly features in the publication and other similar titles.

The 31-year-old has 11 major domestic trophies to her name, while she has been a standout performer in England’s success in recent years.

Watch out for set-pieces, she may be a centre-back but she’s got a great free-kick on her – as she showed against America in the SheBelieves Cup.

England v Scotland: TV channel, live stream, kick-off time and team news for Women's World Cup clash

Fran Kirby

Hailed ‘Mini Messi’ at the 2015 World Cup by then-manager Mark Sampson, Kirby has gone onto big things with Chelsea.

At the last tournament injury curtailed her campaign as she was ruled out from the quarter-finals onwards, unable to help her team-mates who eventually finished third.

Kirby celebrates her goal against Brazil in October

This time out, with two stunning domestic seasons under her belt, she’s likely to play a big role for the Lionesses with her current boss also lavishing praise on her.

After watching his side beat Brazil last October he claimed he’s rather have her in his team than six-time Player of the Year Marta.

“I’d take my No 10 over Brazil’s No 10, that’s for sure,” he said.

“I don’t think Fran realises how much she can keep going, she doesn’t realise her full potential yet.”

If she can focus in France then the World Cup may well be coming home.
