Thierry Henry: Arsenal legend to return to Belgium coaching staff after disastrous spell as Monaco manager

Thierry Henry will reportedly rejoin Belgium’s coaching staff after his disastrous spell as Monaco manager.

Henry, the former Arsenal striker, spent just three months in charge at the Stade Louis II, accepting his first ever head coach job to replace the sacked Leonardo Jardim.

However, he won just four of 20 matches in charge and was dismissed earlier this year, with Jardim returning to the dugout as Henry’s successor.

Before taking the Monaco job, Henry was part of Belgium manager Roberto Martinez’s coaching staff, beginning as second assistant coach before being promoted to assistant when Graeme Jones joined West Brom.

He helped the Red Devils finish third at last summer’s World Cup – their best ever finish – and the Mirror claim Henry will return to their backroom team despite his humiliation at Monaco.

When hired by Monaco, Henry was tasked with guiding the former Ligue 1 champions away from the relegation places after a terrible start to the season.

Jardim was sacked with the club 18th in the table, but Henry’s dreadful run meant he left with them one place lower.

ASM have enjoyed a small upturn in their fortunes since Jardim returned to the dugout, with a series of positive results moving them eight points clear of the drop.
