Derby vs Leeds: Rams players mock Championship rivals with ‘I spy’ tweets and Niall Horan makes Wembley joke after play-off win

Derby County made sure Leeds knew they were beaten.

In the Elland Road changing room following a brilliant 4-2 win, the players sang a song created by Leeds fans to mock manager Frank Lampard, which makes numerous references to the ‘spygate’ scandal that erupted earlier in the season.

And on Twitter, along with Derby fan and talkSPORT regular, Niall Horan, players laughed at their Championship rivals.

Mason Mount and Martyn Waghorn were among those who tweeted ‘I spy with my little eye something beginning with W’, while Horan tweeted United between him and his beloved Rams, they’d played more times at Wembley than them in the last 12 years!

Derby will now play Aston Villa for a place in the Premier League when they contest the Championship play-off final on Monday 27 May, which will be live on talkSPORT at 15:00.

Norwich City, as division champions, and Sheffield United have already secured their place in the top flight and Lampard said after the celebrations, focus will turn to Villa.

“It’s easy to say we shouldn’t celebrate because there is another game but we need that,” he said.

“When they perform like that, and when fans travel here into this hostile atmosphere, then we deserve our moment. Thank you to the fans because we can’t do it without you.”
